A software house is basically a company that develops software for other users. There are different types of software houses including large software companies which produce a variety of products for the mass market; these include Adobe, Microsoft, and Apple. Then there are smaller companies which produce software that is for a niche market, although it is still sold off the shelf for a mass market. These include security programs and accounting programs. Finally there are companies that develop customized software for individual users or companies. These are completely unique and are purchased to give the company the very best solutions to their business processes. Software houses can be contracted in a variety of ways. Sometimes they will send individual developers to work within their client company so that they are in a better position to assess the company’s needs. They may also work in their own software house and meet with the client company on a regular basis to update them. Then there is the increasingly popular trend of outsourcing software development to overseas software houses. To make the most of this last option, it is important to first make sure you’re dealing with a reputable company that you will have regular access to via telephone or video conferencing.
