Business integration software helps companies combine or coordinate existing systems that may not be made to work with each other otherwise. It is also used to help coordinate off the shelf software packages that were not designed to work together.Consider the example of two companies which undergo a merger. Both may have completely unique software that was built for their specific processes. Once the two companies become one, however, they both need to access the same information and unify their operations. Integration software helps the existing software work together to accomplish this end. Even if the merged companies plan to have a whole new software system designed, they still need to be able to operate until it is ready to launch. That’s not to say that integration software is just a quick fix; but it can help companies overcome immediate issues until a long term solution can be sought.
