The latest mobile computing news is the emergence of Flash memory storage devices which store files and applications. The devices are   Secure Digital, SmartMedia and other flash memory does not need batteries, hence can be used in PDAs and digital cameras. Depending on size, price, capacity, they differ from each other. Flash memory card used widely in portable devices are CompactFlash developed by SanDisk. It weighs only half an ounce and is of matchbook size. Type I and Type II form are available form. They are least expensive and have a capacities range from 16MB, which is $23 to 800 MB that is $60. CompactFlash card are used in digital cameras, Pocket PCs and notebooks. However, it is larger for smaller devices. Mostly CompactFlash card is meant for proficient photographers. Other mobile computing news is of memory stick launched by Sony which can store still images, digital video, music, computer data, voice recordings and other content. It is used in Sony products such as camcorders, digital cameras, MP3 player and VAIO notebooks.
