The xplore tablet - a great spec and quality. Every customer that feels and touches an explore tablet pc is always impressed by the quality. The build quality and useability are hard to gauge on the Net, that is why we have a few devices that can be taken on evaluation to enable customers to make an appraisal. Another well known competitor to the explore suffered 10 times the number of hard drive failures......in one customers site - Panic onic The xplore team in the U.S. and around the world whom igroup distribute for, are also knowledge rich and understand SERVICE. iGroup are THE U.K. distributor, although others claim the same. It reminds me of the 1960 film Spartacus. The scene in which everyone claims that THEY are Spartacus! Explore tablets from igroup

The Xplore Technologies iX104C3 Rugged Tablet PC combines durability and reliability with most of the features and options you would expect from a standard desktop PC. Utilising Microsoft Windows XP Tablet edition the Xplore Technologies iX104C3 provides a familiar interface and compatibility with almost any application that can run on a standard version of Microsoft Windows XP with the added bonus of a touch screen technology to help get the job done in location’s where an office is impractical.
With unit’s rugged design and plentiful features you would expect a relatively slow user experience compared with most of today’s office based PC’s however the Xplore iX104C3 is surprisingly responsive. Loaded with a Intel Pentium M 753 running at 1.2GHz, 512MB Ram (Upgradeable to 1GB) and a 40GB hard drive the Xplore iX104C3 is ideally suited to data capture applications and office application viewing and editing. If consumer off the shelf software isn’t suitable for your business needs the Xplore iX104C3’s support for bespoke development are as endless as a standard PC, capable of running applications built using anything from C++ to the full .Net Framework.
Internet or corporate connectivity is often an important factor for field PC’s, the Xplore iX104C3 offers and extensive range of options for connecting to the internet or corporate networks from 802.11a/b/g wLAN right through to eGPRS and Bluetooth and even 10/100/1000Mbit LAN for when you are in the office. The iX104C also comes’ complete with 2x USB 2.0 ports, Microphone & Headphone Jacks and a 15 pin VGA connector for attaching an external visual display device such as a monitor or projector when in the office. The standard battery offers 3.5 hours of use while the extended version boasts up to 5 hours of use.
With all this functionality and an IP 65 rating the Xplore Technologies iX104C3 Rugged Tablet PC really can provide an office experience in some of the harshest environments.

We are undertaking a project that requires using rugged tablets, basically the data that is collected would take way too long to collect using a rugged PDA. The application itself shows images of buildings to the user, it is used in the social housing sector for a housing trust. The user then marks on the drawing where any work needs doing on that building.
Our client required us to find a rugged tablet that was suitable for the job. We have used the Xplore rugged tablet for this job because of its superior processor power and its long list of technical specifications - 3G/UMTS/GPRS, WIFI, Bluetooth, Touch Screen, IP65, Windows XP Tablet edition. What this tablet has enabled us to do is build a highly configurable C#.NET application. We have not had to resort to the compact framework, which has enabled us to do some very cool things, such as adding images from an attached camera and drawing rough sketches of buildings. The model we have used is the iX104C3 which is the latest version and one up from the iX104C2. It can even have GPS added as an option, but then this is a military grade tablet.
After extensive testing of the application on the tablet, the tablet has proved itself to be a leader in its field. The distinguishing feature has to be the addition of the 3G/UMTS. There are no awkward caps or antenna, the card is added inside the tablet which enables data to be sent at high speed (1.8Mbps) back to the management system.
I hope to give more information about the project once complete to give everyone an idea of what can be accomplished by mobile computing.
