Palm Treo

by steve 28. March 2008 13:35
The Palm Treo is one of the fastest new PDAs on the market. Looking similar to a Blackberry, the Palm Treo PDA and smart phone avoids the extra fees by not infringing upon the original owners technology. The attached keyboard and stylus gives the user two ways of inputting data, and on top of that, it also works well as a cell phone. Unlike one of its better known competitors, the Palm Treo PDA is not tied to anyone service. That means if you do not want to use ATT you do not have to. It also runs the Palm OS or Windows Mobile, so software for it is easy to find either way. Not to mention, the Palm Treo PDA can access the Internet at blazing fast speeds. Just find a provider and put in your sim card to enjoy the full functionality of this PDA and smart phone. Be sure to get a reasonably priced service plan.

Panasonic Toughbook

by steve 28. March 2008 12:34
The Panasonic Toughbook continues the tradition of Panasonics rugged mobile computing devices, but it adds another feature that its predecessors lacked. Most of the products in the Toughbook line are slightly heavier than the average laptop, which improves their reliability. A battery life of six hours lets the user work on assignments or projects even during long flights, and its weight of about two and a half pounds makes it one of the easiest rugged computers to carry around. The Panasonic Tougbook CF W5 continues many of the same design features that make the Toughbooks stand out from their competitors. Spilling coffee on a Toughbook will not ruin it. It comes with the Verizon wireless networking card, and the users choice of Windows Vista or XP. If you want Linux, you will probably have to download the appropriate CD to install on the Panasonic Toughbook CF W5.

Palmtops

by steve 27. March 2008 20:03
Palmtops are an older type of hand-held computer, the forerunners of todays cell phones and PDAs.The idea is the same, but they do have one advantage that most of over most of the hand-held devices currently on the market. They had a keyboard. Touch screen applications are nice, but the keyboard offers the most reliable way to get most of the common information into a computer. Plus, most people already know how to type. This makes the older palmtop computers offered by HP desirable, but HP has started to bring them back, realising that there was still a market out there for them. Palmtops have slightly less functionality than a laptop, but the new ones offer slightly more computing power than most PDAs or cell phones. Whether this will remain the case has yet to be seen as many PDAs are now coming with keyboard or touch-type screens.

Hand-held devices

by steve 27. March 2008 19:00
Hand-held devices are a great way to keep up on the latest news and information when you are on the go, but perhaps the most important thing a traveller needs to know is what the weather will be like. Fortunately, there is a piece of software that answers this title for the busy business traveller. The Weather Manager is a piece of mobile software that lets you update current reports from your present location. An Internet connection is required, but it does not have to be one set up through your cellular service provider. All you need is wi-fi Internet access to get the reports on this device.

Custom software development

by steve 27. March 2008 17:11

Many times you need to get your software developed from scratch or the solutions which exist dont suit your needs. Thus, you need to get the solution tailor made to meet your needs. The task of getting a software custom built to meet your requirements is known as custom software development. Custom software development is only the solution.

Before opting for custom software development for getting your solution developed, it is advised that you should be clear in your mind that why you need the solution to be custom built for yourself. You should have an idea what you need to have in the new software and what you need not to have. Only if you are clear about your needs, only then custom software development can meet your expectations. If you have hazy notions about your needs, custom software development will not be totally effective.

Rugged Computers

by steve 27. March 2008 17:09
What a rugged computer means is that it is expected to be used in harsh environment. Military service personnel, fire fighters, and people who are expected to have to operate under extreme conditions. Computers not only are able to stand up to the rough conditions and frequent jarring needed by the people in certain professions, but they also are spill proof, which for some people makes them worth the little extra money. This separates a rugged laptop from a standard one, because it can take far more abuse and holds up to travel conditions much better than the standard Wal-Mart variety laptop computer.

Mobile Enterprise Applications

by steve 19. March 2008 17:39
When looking for mobile enterprise applications it is hard to know who to trust. The Internet can give you a variety of people willing to sell the applications to you or your business, but that does not tell you if the seller is trustworthy or of the mobile enterprise applications offered by the business will meet your needs. Once you have all that sorted out about Mobile Enterprise applications, the next thing you need to worry about is how to integrate them into your business. Thankfully, we have consultants or people on staff who are paid specifically to handle these things. But if you do not or if you want a clue of what your IT professionals are doing, make sure that you understand the terminology, trends, and at least have a basic idea of how the systems work. Even if phrases like the OSI model are foreign to you. Do not worry; you do not need to know what it is. it is hard to know who to trust.

Mobile Enterprise Solutions

by steve 19. March 2008 14:32
When it comes to looking for mobile enterprise solutions, Microsoft has come up with a series of solutions called Enterprise Mobile. This may not be as innovative as the company would like to have you believe, but there is one advantage to using Microsoft products. They integrate with desktop applications with little or no trouble. Microsoft is far from being the only provide of mobile enterprise solutions, but they will work best with the equipment most businesses already have without having to worry about compatibility issues with their existing systems. (Publishing firms may have to find a different solution, because Apple Computer still has the largest market share.) So if you need mobile enterprise software, Microsofts Mobile Enterprise is a good way to go and will be compatible with most businesses. If the owners dislike Microsoft or want to save money, there are other options.

Mobile Devices

by steve 19. March 2008 14:31
Mobile devices are capable of fulfilling a variety of roles from personal organiser to small and highly portable word processor, but one of the newest and niftiest roles for mobile devices is that of a global positioning system. Global Positioning systems (GPS) allow a user to connect with a satellite to figure out their exact latitude and longitude on the planet. For mobile devices, this means that a mobile device equipped with a GPS system can help a lost hiker or traveller find their way back to civilisation. If the terrain is too difficult for them to traverse on their own, a lost hiker can let rescuers know his exact location. Mobile devices can be a great boon to search and rescue personnel. They have many other uses as well and a person waiting to be rescued can keep his moral up by playing games until help arrives.

Mobile Device Management

by steve 19. March 2008 11:32
Mobile device management can be a concern for any enterprise that expects to have a large portion of its work force on the road, but the most important aspect of mobile device management is the security. While open wi-fi networks can reduce speed an productivity if people are leeching off of it, a business must also protect the important data. The problem of security for mobile device management is not new one and some things are the same as others, but over the air encryption keeps the data from being accessed and keeps unwanted people outside of a business's virtual private network. Security is not the only aspect of mobile device management that a business owner should be worried about, he should also include applications that allow the hand held and other portable devices to do the same work that the desktop applications in your business do.

Outsourcing Software Development

by steve 19. March 2008 11:28
Outsourcing software development can really help you save lot of dollars which you plan to spend on development of your software. Wondering how? Then your answer lies in the developing economies of other countries. Those countries which have weaker economies when compared to developed nations, they have their currency value less as compared to US Dollar or Sterling - although recent credit crunch turmoil question this theory!. The cost of living is also far less as compared to cost of living in the developed nations. Due to these reasons, the brains of those countries work at a reduced price compared to when you get your work done in a developed nation. Outsourcing software development has proved to a boon in these countries. Due to outsourcing software development, lot of employment opportunities have being generated in these countries and many people livesuch countries as freelancers which further decreases costs.

Offshore Software Development

by steve 18. March 2008 11:51
The trend of offshore software development has gathered pace in recent few years. Due to increase in the facilities as well as infrastructure, more and more work is getting outsourced to other countries where the costs are less. With offshore software development, one can understand it as the development of software or other applications in other country or outside the shores of the native countries. Offshore software development has been the major principle behind the increase in the competition in software market all over the world as now clients have direct access to individuals who are capable of giving the same results at lesser prices which is being offered in their respective countries. Offshore software development costs less as due to conversion factors involved in currencies of different countries. The work is outsourced to those countries which have weaker native currency when compared to US Dollar or Euro or Pound and lower wage costs.

Business Software Development

by steve 18. March 2008 11:49
Every business seeks a different solution and the requirement of one business is never the same as needs of other businesses. Thus, business software development has become integrated part for the successful of businesses. Though the readymade software can be tailor made in such cases. This saves lot of money which one needs to spend for getting software made from scratch. But some businesses have even more complex needs. In these cases, business software development has to start from level zero as they have so many addins to be incorporated into the main stream solution. Along with this, getting software designed from scratch offers flexibility and independence as there is no need to understand the code of other people which can really prove a strenuous task.

UK Software Developers

by steve 17. March 2008 11:44
UK software developers have made a name in the field of application development as well as in software development. The reason for such a high level of trust shown in UK software developers is efficient working ethics and practices UK software developers employ. No one in the field of software development can undermine the importance of UK software developers. This has been the reason why a high percentage of software development work is being carried out in UK. Though software development or application development is on rise in UK, outsourcing has already shown its effect. Due to lesser costs involved, more and more work is getting outsourced to other countries. This is lead to increase in the competition among UK software developers and they are forced to work at lesser rates now as compared to rates on which they worked few years ago or deliver via an onshore/offshore mix.
