Imperial Tobacco case study
Imperial Tobacco is the world’s fourth largest international tobacco company. They manufacture, market, and sell a comprehensive range of cigarettes, tobaccos, rolling papers, filter tubes and cigars in over 130 countries worldwide.
Imperial Tobacco employ around 300 field based sales representatives that cover the entire UK.
In order to cover such a large area the representatives are divided into 3 main groups.
• Independent sales force responsible for independent retail outlets
• Multiple Trade sales force responsible for large multiple outlets such as ASDA, Sainsbury’s etc
• Licensed Sales force responsible for hotels, restaurants and cafes
Goals
Imperial Tobacco wanted to review their current hardware devices and possible replacements.
• Fujitsu 5020 Pen Tablet
• O’Neil 2T Thermal Printer
• Ben Q 5MP Digital Camera
• Cannon BJC 85 Bubble Jet A4 Home Printer
The review was to help the Imperial Tobacco to understand the advantages and disadvantages of each device, and to conduct a thorough review of alternative models available currently in the marketplace that fit all or most of our future requirements.
